Located close to Shepton Mallet in the heart of the region’s milk field, the unit features a typically sized 180-cow herd run on a commercial basis and provides a platform for higher TRL developers.The South West Dairy Development Centre presents a fresh vision for the UK dairy industry.
The resource offers a truly innovative environment for developing, testing and demonstrating new technologies and techniques to support sustainable, efficient, high health and welfare, cost-efficient milk production.
Join us for a tour of our facilities, featuring the Mirico Greenhouse Gas Monitoring system, the Eddy Covariance Flux System, and biodiversity monitoring. We’ll also hear from OxiTech, who will present their chemical-free cleaning technology designed to enhance the sustainability of dairy farming. The tour will be followed by a networking lunch.
In the afternoon, we will host a workshop titled: Livestock and Aquaculture Innovation: Shaping the next 10 years
The report published by The UK Agri-Tech Centre in July 2024 aims to be a catalyst for innovation and define current and future research needs.In a 90 minute interactive workshop we will examine the themes identified and discuss priorities by sector.
The aim will be to identify key priorities from the report that are relevant to your business and discuss how we might tackle some of these challenges, either independently or through collaboration.
