Why New Zealand?

New Zealand offers a unique environment for agri-tech validation with highly progressive farming systems, with a strong culture of innovation and collaboration. 

By leveraging its agile ecosystem and counter-seasonality, the programme enables rapid, real-world testing and positions UK technologies for scale across New Zealand and the wider Australasia region. 

The initiative also strengthens UK–NZ collaboration and accelerates export readiness through market immersion, pilot deployment and engagement with leading agri-tech networks and events. 

Eligibility, Accessibility and Inclusion

Eligibility

Your innovation must:

  • Address one of the defined focus areas:
    • Biosecurity, animal health and traceability 
    • Farm system productivity 
    • Climate volatility, drought and water security 
    • Environmental compliance and nutrient efficiency 
  • Be at technology readiness 9 (TRL 9) and be ready to demonstrate in a relevant environment
  • Your organisation must be a UK registered business of any size

 

  • The programme will fund direct costs associated with trial and demonstration of technologies. This may include shipment, deployment, demonstration, validation or other direct costs. Do not include the market purchase value of technology item, any labour or overheads. 
  • A funded visit for one representative per business will also be provided separately. This will include a 2-week market visit to New Zealand for technology setup, deployment, farmer training and stakeholder engagement. This will include economy airfare and accommodation while in New Zealand. 
  • If your application is successful, any support you receive is expected to count as Minimal Financial Assistance under UK subsidy rules (UK Subsidy Control Act 2022)

  • 13 April 2026 (12:00 BST) – Close of application window
  • 20 April 2026 – Shortlisted UK agri-tech companies notified
  • 27 April 2026 – Virtual 1-2-1 to support ahead of pitch day
  • 5 May 2026 – In person pitch day in London
  • 13 May 2026 – Notification of Successful applicants
  • 25 May 2026 – Agri-tech landscape webinar for successful applicants
  • 1 June 2026 – Path to market webinar for successful applicants
  • July 2026 – In-country 2-week market visit for technology setup, deployment, farmer training and stakeholder engagement.
  • July 2026 – March 2027 – In-country validation, data gathering, partnership development and commercial exploration.
  • 31 March 2027 – Completion
