Tim Mordan

Tim Mordan was a senior civil servant at Defra until his retirement in March 2024.  He is now a Non-Executive Director at the UK-Agri-Tech Centre. Tim spent over forty years in Defra and MAFF.

For the last few years at Defra he headed up the Innovation, Productivity and Science team where his responsibilities included agri-tech, the Farming Innovation Programme, the Farming Investment Fund (grant scheme), supply chain fairness, farming tenancy review, seasonal agricultural workers, AHDB, the food/farming science R&D programme and gene editing (he oversaw the introduction of the Precision Breeding Act in 2023).

Before that he had various roles in Defra such as Deputy Director in communications, head of the Customer Contact Unit, Brussels negotiations and he also spent part of his early career in human resources.
