Tim Mordan is a Non-Executive Director at the UK Agri-Tech Centre, bringing more than 40 years of leadership and policy experience from Defra and the former Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF).
Before retiring from Defra in 2024, Tim led the Innovation, Productivity and Science team, overseeing key programmes including agri-tech, the Farming Innovation Programme, the Farming Investment Fund, the agricultural R&D programme, supply chain fairness, seasonal agricultural workers, farm tenancies policy, oversight of AHDB and the introduction of the Precision Breeding Act 2023.
His extensive understanding of government policy, innovation funding and the UK agricultural landscape helps strengthen the UK Agri-Tech Centre’s role in connecting businesses with the wider innovation ecosystem.
Tim’s experience supports the Centre’s mission to accelerate technology adoption by fostering collaboration between industry, government and research, creating the conditions for agri-tech businesses to prove their innovations, achieve commercial success and scale their impact
Earlier in his career, Tim held various roles across communications, customer services, European and international negotiations and human resources, giving him broad expertise in stakeholder engagement, public policy and strategic leadership.
Tim was awarded an OBE in the King’s 2024 Birthday Honours List.
