The UK Agri-Tech Centre took part in BSAS – British Society of Animal Science 2024 event in Belfast.

Hannah van Zanten from Wageningen University & Research presented on the topic of ‘Livestock in a Circular Economy’, discussing a number of modelled examples to illustrate the effects of circular food systems on variables such as greenhouse gas emissions, land use and human nutrient requirements. Hannah also covered the important topic of food waste, opportunities to reduce it and opportunities to create a circular system by feeding waste to livestock for upcycling.

Annie Williams, Business Development Manager at the UK Agri-Tech Centre, said:

“The British Society of Animal Science conference is a really important date in the animal science diary each year and the UK Agri-Tech Centre continues to work closely with BSAS to foster world leading research from academics and industry. It was a great conference in Belfast this year and we enjoyed catching up with lots of members both from industry and academia.”

The UK Agri-Tech Centre was thrilled to support the event and sponsor the prestigious Hammond Lecture, chaired by our CEO, Phil Bicknell.
